Kasia
Pietrzko

Pianist, composer, arranger, and graduate of the Krakow Academy of Music, where she is currently a doctoral student.

After a striking debut with her trio, she quickly became not only a leading young artist in the Polish music market but also attracted significant interest throughout Europe. In 2018, she performed with Tomasz Stańko's quartet at the Alchemia club in Krakow. This event was supposed to kick off a European concert tour for the artist's new quartet, which was interrupted by his unexpected death.

Following the success of the first album by the Kasia Pietrzko Trio, "Forthright Stories" (2017), which was awarded the "Mateusz" by Trojka, the Grand Prix Jazz Melomani, and a Fryderyk nomination, Kasia began performing at prestigious music venues, festivals, and showcases worldwide. She performed, among others, at the NDR Studio in Hamburg, the 12 Points Jazz Festival, Jazz Forum Showcase, and Jazz au Chellah in Morocco.

In the pandemic year of 2020, Kasia's trio presented their second original album titled "Ephemeral Pleasures." The album is evidence of the consistency of the trio's style and the development of their own language. The spirit of the band's collaboration and powerful energy blend with a sophisticated mixture of harmonic imagination, lyricism, and unlimited creativity. In May 2021, Kasia Pietrzko Trio was the only band representing Poland at the international JazzAhead trade fair in Bremen.

At the invitation of the Chopin and His Europe festival, Kasia Pietrzko, along with saxophonist Maciej Kądziela, composed jazz interpretations of poems by Cyprian Kamil Norwid, recited by Andrzej Chyra. The premiere of the project took place in August 2021 at the National Philharmonic in Warsaw. It also resulted in a studio album titled "Norwid," which premiered in September 2022. In November 2021, during the Jazz Autumn in Bielsko-Biała, she realized her long-standing dream on stage: her own concert "Anxious Beauty," performed by her own trio with the accompaniment of a jazz quintet and a mixed choir.

On April 28, 2023, under the Warner Music label (Polish Jazz series), the latest album by Kasia Pietrzko Trio titled "Fragile Ego" was released. It is a project unique in many ways, but it is particularly noteworthy that Kasia Pietrzko is the first pianist, composer, and leader in the history of this oldest jazz record series, which has been in existence for 58 years!
