Femininity and its emotional shades are an aspect that Kasia Pietrzko (un)consciously wanted to expel from her own creativity at the beginning of her musical journey. This was due to her acceptance of the erroneous stereotype that the world of jazz belongs to the men. After a few years, however, it turned out that the feminine energy, which the pianist ultimately decided to trust, fascinatingly influenced the strength of her new compositions: their multi-layeredness, multi-threadedness and multi-style.
On the new album, the trio is as always accompanied by Andrzej Święs and Piotr Budniak - artists who in a huge way create the sound of the whole band, are equal partners of the pianist. In working on the new material - apart from solid sectional playing - they have strongly developed their individual musical narratives. Stylistically, the album refers to impressionism, manifested in the pursuit of capturing a momentary sound image and sensitivity to color. There is also no shortage of inspiration from the contemporary music of the early 20th century through the use of both minimalist and dense harmonic textures. It is also worth pointing out the expressive character of the compositions: strong emotions are present in improvisations and main themes, expressed in an interesting, musical nervousness of sounds and melodic progressions.
The project was created on special commission from the Chopin and His Europe festival. The concept of the event is based on a musical interpretation of selected letters of Cyprian Kamil Norwid, read by the distinguished Andrzej Chyra.
The world of improvisation enters into an extraordinary relationship with Norwid's text, where words transform into a poetry of sounds. It becomes an impulse for musicians to create an individual and unique musical commentary. The improvised project, due to the non-random selection of artists and the work of Cyprian Kamil Norwid, is an exceptional event because of its artistic depth and message.
Solo concerts for the artist herself represent the most intimate form of artistic expression. They are based solely on original compositions, which rely on melodious themes and strong, uncompromising rhythms. The pianist's high-level craftsmanship, as well as a richly developed harmonic and coloristic palette, demonstrate the artist's passion for classical and 19th-century music combined with jazz.
